Give Your Family Clean Fresh Water

Let´s face it; our water supplies have been greatly affected by so much human activity. Water today just does not taste like it did. Since it seems that government and industry cannot come up with a way to keep us in clean water, consumers and entrepreneurs have taken the initiative and have come up with several solutions to keep harmful contaminants out of our drinking water.

One option is bottled water. This is usually a fairly expensive solution however and many people opt to install some sort of filtration system in their plumbing. There are several different types of in home filtration system and, fortunately most of them can be easily installed.

You can decide to use either an interior or exterior water filter. An exterior filter is placed in the water main line just before it comes into the house and weatherized. The filters are heavy and can be difficult to change however and even though they are a heavier duty filter they still have a great deal of water passing through.

In home filters are much simpler to deal with. First you must determine which faucets will have the filters and locate the main line to that faucet, before it branches into hot and cold water lines. In older homes these lines may be made of copper. While you are installing the filter it is a good idea to replace these lines with flexible tubing. The filter will have two openings, one for input and one for discharge. These openings are clearly marked.
