EPA requires that firms performing renovation, repair, and painting projects that disturb lead-based paint ...

As of the beginning of June Nixco Plumbing Inc. has become an EPA Lead-Safe Certified firm.

Common renovation activities like sanding, cutting, and demolition can create hazardous lead dust and chips by disturbing lead-based paint, which can be harmful to adults and children.

To protect against this risk, on April 22, 2008, EPA issued a rule requiring the use of lead-safe practices and other actions aimed at preventing lead poisoning. Under the rule, beginning April 22, 2010, contractors performing renovation, repair and painting projects that disturb lead-based paint in homes, child care facilities, and schools built before 1978 must be certified and must follow specific work practices to prevent lead contamination.

In a speech today at the Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies (AMWA) annual conference in Washington, D.C., U.S. EPA Administrator Lisa P. Jackson announced the agency is developing a broad new set of strategies to strengthen public health protection from contaminants in drinking water. The aim is to find solutions that meet the health and economic needs of communities across the country more effectively than the current approach. EPA is also announcing a decision to revise the existing drinking water standards for four contaminants that can cause cancer.

“To confront emerging health threats, strained budgets and increased needs — today’s and tomorrow’s drinking water challenges — we must use the law more effectively and promote new technologies,” said EPA Administrator Jackson. “That means fostering innovation that can increase cost-effective protection. It means finding win-win-win solutions for our health our environment and our economy. And it means broad collaboration. To make our drinking water systems work harder, we have to work smarter.”

We will certainly recommend your company and services to our friends and family.

February 25, 2010

Dear Jeff,

I wanted to take the opportunity to let you know what an outstanding job your team did on our recent kitchen remodel.

I had called your office on a Friday evening after hours, planning to leave a message requesting an appointment. Within minutes, I received a call from Guy Hickman, who scheduled an appointment to bid our project. Guy was friendly and professional and made an outstanding first impression of your firm.

Russ Morris arrived to handle our project and was prompt and courteous. He actually made a suggestion and additional change to the kitchen island sink that resulted in a much more efficient layout, which also gave us the use of more cabinet space.

We will certainly recommend your company and services to our friends and family. A future bathroom remodel is also planned in the coming year, so we look forward to working with Nixco Plumbing again.

Best wishes,

Nancy and Mike Folchi

February 4, 2010

For several years we have not been able to get the water to a comfortable temperature in our baptismal font. We tried changing out elements, regulating water flow and various other ideas to get the water warmer, with no real progress. We invited Nixco Plumbing to evaluate our situation. After assessing our system they came up with a solution.

Nixco Plumbing was able to provide us a new system that was installed quickly and in operation to our satisfaction. Once the new system was up and running for 20 to 40 minutes, there was a noticable change in the temperature of the water in the font. After a few more hours, the water reached a comfortable and desired 98 degrees.

I would like to thank the people from Nixco Plumbing for their help in solving our water heating issues. If there are any other issues at our facility. I will definitely give Nixco Plumbing a call.

Thanks
