Better Business Bureau Honors Nixco Plumbing with 2008 Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics

Flat-Rate Pricing and Stringent Service Standards Among Tri-State Company’s Exemplary Ethical Practices

CINCINNATI, October 31, 2008— Striving to differentiate through a superior standard of service, Nixco Plumbing today announced that it was chosen as the 2008 Winner of the Cincinnati Better Business Bureau Torch Award in the category for businesses with 21-100 employees. The Better Business Bureau (BBB) celebrated the winners and honorees of its 2008 Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics at a gala evening at Cincinnati's Music Hall last week.

The BBB, founded with a mission to see that all share in the opportunity through a fair and equitable marketplace, has recognized 12 businesses and nonprofit organizations in the Tri-State for their commitment to the ideals of marketplace ethics. Criteria included: High ethical standards demonstrated through practices, a longstanding reputation for ethics in the marketplace, true representation in advertising, employee training programs, and high-value management practices.
"The Torch Award encompasses the spirit and tradition of the BBB unlike anything else," said BBB President Jocile Ehrlich. "It recognizes and honors businesses and organizations who fully commit themselves to ethical practices in all aspects of their business dealings."

The Torch Award recipients were chosen by a distinguished panel of independent judges that included: Mike Laatsch, Vice President Public Relations, Western Southern Financial Group; Vincent Davis, Director Customer Operations, Duke Energy; John Ritter, Co-Owner, Ritter Daniher Financial Advisory, LLC; Jennifer Goodin, Executive Director, Ronald McDonald House Charities; Tom Gill, President, Tom Gill Chevrolet. The judges evaluated the applications based on the eight judging criteria established by the Council of Better Business Bureaus and the International Torch Award Program. The finalists were chosen by the judges based on the overall scores; the Torch Award recipient being the top finalist in each category.
