How to Boost Low Water Pressure In Your House

How to Boost Low Water Pressure In Your House

If you have ever tried to take a shower someplace with low water pressure, you know how frustrating it can be. Rinsing takes longer, washing is more cumbersome, and you may have to wait longer to fill pots or glasses.

If your home suffers from low water pressure, you’ll be happy to find out there are several boosting methods you can do to make the pressure more bearable. Some of our professional tips include:

Replace the Water Pressure Regulator

Most homes are equipped with a water pressure regulator. These devices are put in place to regulate the water pressure coming from the water supplier, since, in many cases, the water that comes directly from the supplier has water pressure that is often too high.

Depending on the condition and installation of your pressure regulator, you may experience water pressure that is too low. Luckily, these regulators are easy to adjust and replace if needed.

Clear Clogged Pipes

Another reason your water pressure might be suffering is due to clogs or blocked pipes. Over time, your pipes get clogged with food, grease, hair and pretty much anything else that ends up going down the drain.

Without regular drain cleaning or hydrojetting, you may notice the water pressure in your home begins to suffer. By investing in these services, you will ensure your pipes are not subject to nasty clogs and your water pressure is able to keep up.

Check the Faucet

Before jumping to conclusions and worrying that there is something wrong with your home water pressure, check your faucet.

Many modern faucets are built in a way that conserves water and reduces the amount of water that passes through them. Unlike older faucets that have wide spouts, modern faucets have smaller compartments for water to pass through.

This is an effort to conserve water, however, it can sometimes create an issue if sediment or a small piece of debris blocks one of the smaller holes in the faucet. If this happens, you may notice a drop in your water pressure. If you notice reduced water pressure in a specific faucet in your home, the issue may be faucet-related rather than an indication of your whole home water pressure.

Install a Water Pressure Booster

If your home simply does not have high enough water pressure, there is a device you can install on your pipes to boost the pressure. These mechanisms work by taking the water that is being provided from your water provider and putting it through an electrical pump and pressure tank that stores water in it so whenever you turn on a faucet you will experience water with a higher water pressure than before.
